EDITOR’S

LETTER

We’re edging ever

closer to that mid-point

in the year; a time to

slow down and evaluate

how effective the show

activity and buying

strategy at the start of

the year was.

For

Attire Accessories

, the show season

is about catching up with our allies in the

industry, discovering new designs and

meeting new faces. We’re so lucky to be

part of the British fashion trade industry,

not least because the exquisite quality

of the products, original design and the

tight-knit nature of the community. So,

what better way to celebrate these singular

qualities than by showcasing what makes

our businesses great in the US? New

trade show Source British has taken on

the challenge of presenting the UK’s very

best gift and fashion ranges to American

retailers as part of LA Fashion Market.

We spoke to show founder, Olivett Asare,

about what the US buyers and retailers

have to look forward to, from buying

seminars to a Sipsmith Gin Palace – which

we suspect will be very busy!

Meanwhile closer to home, the

homegrown designer-maker industry will

be preparing to gather at British Craft

Trade Fair in Harrogate to demonstrate the

country’s wealth of talent and an artisanal

flair that continues to go from strength

to strength 43 years on. We take a look

at some of the best accessories exhibitors’

work in our preview of the event.

INDX will also return to Cranmore

Park this season to bring the indie

community together in a wonderful buying

environment. Look out for the host of fresh

additions to the show’s line-up, no doubt

influenced by the return of iconic heritage

label, Radley.

As well as our show previews, regular

features, and interviews, we take a look

at the best eyewear, leather goods, beach

accessories and clutch bags available at

the moment.This issue’s competition

prize of products is worth more than £500

RRP – as well as five runner-up prizes –

comes courtesy of award-winning German

luggage label reisenthel.

Preparing for a day trip to the beach or

poolside bathing is always a nightmare – I

rarely pack less than I’d needed for the

whole summer holiday away! However,

Mowgs has hit upon the perfect solution

with its cheerful woven baskets, which

offer ample space for towel, kaftan, shades,

suntan lotion and this summer’s bestselling

trashy novel. What’s more, the pieces are

made entirely from recycled materials

– what’s not to love?
