Celebrating difference is a key theme that has echoed throughout this year on a global level. Particularly in London, one of the most diverse cities in the world, there’s no denying that difference is beautiful. This forms the concept for one of the latest exhibition at the YKK London Showroom, which showcased the works of MA Fashion Artefact students at the London College of Fashion. The collaborative project resulted in ten culturally innovative and inventive projects. The fashion students were tasked to design and create an artefact responding to the theme of ‘connecting contrast and difference’ incorporating YKK fasteners, zippers or snap products. Exploring the possibilities, young designers were challenged to create an item beyond commercial and conventional functions, experimenting with YKK products within their pieces.
