Fashion industry committed to sustainable fashion, says new study

A new study with 100 senior executives who work for fashion brands and retailers in the UK, US and Australia, by Aquapak Polymers Ltd, reveals that the majority (88 percent) plan to stop plastic in packaging altogether.

Some 8 percent are planning to abolish plastic within the next 12 months, 14 percent within one to two years, 19 percent within two to three years, 30 percent within three to four years and 28 percent within four to five years.

Almost half said that they are extremely concerned about their business' use of polybags such as carrier and garment bags, the majority of which are used for merchandise bought on-line, and the damage they cause to the environment.

The Royal Horticultural Society appoints Threadbare to produce apparel range

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has announced the appointment of Threadbare, a family-run fashion house where style and quality meets the needs of everyday life, to produce a wide range of apparel for women, men, children and – in a first for the RHS – dogs!

The first collection launches in time for RHS Flower Show Tatton Park in Knutsford, Cheshire (19-23 July 2023), and features eight pieces consisting of two tops, one pair of trousers and one dress – each in a choice of two colourways.

All the designs used in this collection have been inspired by assets from the RHS Lindley Collections, the world's finest collection of botanical art. The partnerships with the RHS will be highlighted on the Threadbare website.

Just Around the Corner (JATC) SS24 post-show roundup

Just Around the Corner (JATC) SS24 saw the show's debut in Wapping's Tobacco Dock event space. The new venue received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from attendees, and the show organisers couldn't be happier. The venue's stunning aesthetics, a series of stunning wood beamed halls with oodles of natural light with excellent accessibility for both buyers and brands all connected with an outdoor courtyard housing JATC's baristas serving up their complimentary delectable treats for everyone to savour throughout the day. Footflow was in line with last season, whilst remaining consistent, many exhibitors commented on quality over quantity. Buyers from independents and keys alike came out in force and perused the products on show, which included over X40 brands new to JATC which included Mitchell and Ness, Beaumont Organic, Milly Grace, Face Junkie, Margaret Dabbs, Great Plains London, Miss Sixty, P448, Mou, Nine West, Scholl, Sloggi, Free People.

The team at Just Around the Corner are sorry to announce that despite huge interest from exhibitors and visitors alike the event will not be going ahead in Manchester in July; the event was due to take place on 10-11 July at Love Factory, 202 Dantzic St, Manchester. However, Just Around the Corner are excited to share some positive news regarding its July London event.
