46 Who:  Polly’s Textiles +44 (0)7773 383 875 , pollystextiles.com What: We spoke to Danielle Wade, owner of Polly’s Textiles, about her business. “I set up my own workshop and business in 2010. I was focusing on the processes of hand dyeing fabrics and screen printing, using standard inks and combining with various printing techniques like metallic, textured inks and discharge printing to creating rich surface patterns. “My hand-dyed fabrics are screen-printed with imagery from original drawings and sketches, taking inspiration from the natural world, drawing seeds, pods, flowers and fruits found on my travels and treasure hunts with my family. These rich colourful fabrics with bold patterns are then cut and sewn into a selection of products such as wash bags, pencil cases, peg bags, aprons and shoulder bags.” Where:  232 Who: Jess Withington Jewellery jesswithingtonjewellery@gmail.com, jesswithington.co.uk Editor Louise Prance caught up with designer Jess Withington, who spoke about the collection. She said, “Living on the bank of the River Humber I’m inspired by nature and all the wonderful and quirky things it produces. I love to create delicate pieces inspired by my surroundings, capturing little worlds full of colourful characters for people to wear and enjoy. I work primarily in silver, adding bright pops of enamel and a mixture of semi-precious stones. My first collections are full of tiny ladybirds, bees, lobsters and turtles, created by doming and layering sterling silver, I then file into the surface and add a splash of colour by hand painting on the enameled details.” Where: N39 Who: Leena Charles leenacharlesknit@yahoo.co.uk, leenacharles.co.uk What: Leena Charles Knitwear is a London-based company that designs and makes knitwear with Leena often visiting her homeland Finland for inspiration for patterns and designs.
