WHO’S NEXT REVIEW 47 Who’s Next The latest edition of Who’s Next was a hotbed of accessory inspiration, with the launch of the new Impact section focusing on sustainable fashion Who: Who’s Next Where: Porte de Versailles, Paris Next event: 17-20 January, 2020 Who’s Next was centered around a theme of Paris Texas, with four days of fashion at the Porte de Versailles exhibition centre. This September was a momentous occasion for the event with the launch of Impact, billed as the new ‘rendez-vous for sustainable fashion in Paris.’ Said to be an ambitious product, a press release stated its, “success has delighted our teams, who are so proud of a first edition that gives such hope for the future. With nearly 120 partners present and around 11,000 visitors over the four days, Impact has won the hearts of the public and caught the attention of industry professionals, who did not hesitate to cross the walkway joining the two events to discover this new ‘green’ initiative.” The event held conferences with more than 100 speakers, which were said to be the think tanks for fashion of tomorrow. Who’s Next aimed to tackle new challenges within the industry with a redesigned space maximising the ‘concept-store’ style of the event. Accessories were resplendent in the ready-to-wear and Fame areas, as well as the urban What’s Up section, including textile accessories, shoes, leather goods and jewellery. With 1400 brands and 400 new names, there was a plethora of designers from different creative fields. Who’s Next also launched LAB. SCENE the incubator for emerging brands, created in partnership with Istituto Marangoni. Centred around its mission to support new designers, LAB.SCENE is an avant- garde, innovative and dynamic space consolidating Who’s Next’s supportive role towards young makers. The new sector launched a competition, with LAB.SCENE offering its support to the three winners, announced in December, on brand strategy and business development. The four days included masterclasses hosted by eight experts, workshops and talks, while the accessories area showcased a cutting-edge selection. These were shown across three areas for Shoes, Jewellery and Textile Accessories with big companies, department stores, e-shop and concept stores all present.
