LEATHER ACCESSORIES 61 Brit Stitch, +44 (0)1873 852 742, brit-stitch.com Brit Stitch was founded in 1967 when Peter Jones started his journey in a tiny workshop as a saddle and harness maker. Peter was always looking for new things to make and try his hand at. One day Toby, the local milkman, popped in for a chat and asked Peter to make him a new leather cash bag for his milk round and Peter didn’t disappoint. He hand stitched a beautifully crafted, strong bag, built to last. In 2010, Toby brought his bag back to the company for a replacement strap. With 43 years of history in its hands and the owner’s father’s love of making beautifully crafted items, the team decided it was time to give the vintage bag a thoroughly modern makeover, using the traditional skills Brit Stitch is so proud of. Nixey, +44 (0)7793 775 905, nixeyonline.com Launched three years ago, Nixey is still fairly new to the leather industry but, according to founder Laura-Marie Nixey, “It feels like a great time to be joining.” She continues, “Customers today are considered with their leather purchases and as advocates of the slow fashion movement this very much aligns with what Nixey stands for. We’re finding that customers want more than just beautifully crafted leather items with a story to tell. They also want pieces that will work hard for them in their wardrobe and see them through the seasons. We hope to fit this brief for our customers as each of our bags is crafted by traditional sporran makers near the Scottish Highlands and can be worn as both a beltbag and shoulder bag.” Lakeland Leather, +44 (0)1539 439 036 , lakelandleather.co.uk
