16 Check out all the important news and dates for your business diary… ON WITH THE SHOW PURE LONDON COLLABORATES WITH PANTONE Pure London has collaborated with colour institute Pantone to unveil the theme that is set to drive its PANTONEVIEW Colour Planner SS20 colour forecast, which will be The Sea, as well as Pantone colour of the year, Living Coral. Speaking about the theme, Pantone marketing director Abigail Bruce said, “The sea covers 70 per cent of Earth’s surface, but while it is vast, it’s size and surface area doesn’t overwhelm us. Instead, we find ourselves inspired by its beauty and in awe of its powers. The sea captivates our imaginations. That’s not all, though. The sea is deep and mysterious – almost like another world. But while it might seem alien in some ways, it’s familiar and comforting in others. We go to the sea with our friends and families to socialise and relax, and we find this time refreshing, healing and restorative.” The Pantone colour of the year is chosen following meticulous consideration and year-round trend analysis. Pantone will be informing colour-themed catwalks at Pure London. The show takes place from 21 st – 23 rd July, 2019. AUTUMN FAIR SET TO LAUNCH NEW DIRECTION AT SEPTEMBER’S SHOW Autumn Fair will unveil its new direction at the 2019 show, taking place at Birmingham NEC from 1 st – 4 th September. As part of the changes, Autumn Fair will move to the Atrium at the NEC in a bid to help better connections between suppliers and retailers. New show sectors include Gift (General) and Fashion, while the new Sourcing area is hoped to enable manufacturers from key sourcing regions around the world to exhibit new products and showcase techniques to a new and relevant retail market. Julie Driscoll, managing director at Autumn Fair said, “The new sourcing hall will bring the best of the world to our door, ensuring that buyers who ordinarily wouldn’t have the resource to commit to costly trips abroad to visit potential suppliers can make connections here at Autumn Fair. Not only that, but we’ll be pushing to attract more international retailers to buy from the UK-based suppliers that are the foundation of our show. “We’ve gone to great lengths to ensure that we share the latest trend intelligence for international vendors to ensure that they’re bringing the most relevant products for the UK market.” Following on from its success at Spring Fair earlier this year, the Power of One campaign will continue at Autumn Fair, encouraging the industry to take action against plastic waste and unsustainable practices.
