ON WITH THE SHOW 17 PURE ORIGIN TO THROW SPOTLIGHT ON SUSTAINABLE LEATHER SOLUTIONS Manufacturing expo Pure Origin, which runs alongside Pure London, will be throwing the spotlight on sustainable leather practices this coming show. Some of the industry’s most pioneering suppliers and manufacturers will be showcasing new innovations and technologies within the market and will offer solutions to environmental issues. One such technology is new tanning agent Olivenleder by German sustainable leather solutions business wet-green. Thomas Lamparter, head of sales at wet-green, says, “The leather tanning process is a complex one, and for us, the bare minimum in sustainability was just not enough! We’ve gone from being a niche product, used only in a few cars at BMW and a selection of upholstery and accessories, to being involved with many other automotive companies. We have introduced Olivenleder into the design process for several models, as well as expanding our business from the motor, upholstery and saddling industries to footwear as well. A collaboration with a major German fashion label is our first entry into the fashion industry, and a range of accessories, garments and shoes made of Olivenleder will be introduced before the end of the year.” Visit purelondon.com/pure-origin ITE ANNOUNCES NEW SHOW DIRECTOR FOR MODA AND JACKET REQUIRED ITE Group has announced the appointment of Adam Gough as the new show director for Jacket Required and Moda. A seasoned pro in the fashion industry, Adam worked for the likes of Diesel before joining Pure London, where he guided the show’s transformation into a festival of fashion while managing the footwear and accessories section and heading up Pure Man. Adam says, “Both Moda and Jacket Required are market leaders with huge potential for growth. I’ve always admired Jacket Required; it attracts some of my personal favourite brands, such as Porter, Edwin and Armor Lux. The edit of the show, carefully curated with some of the best international brands, has always made it a must-attend and inspirational event for the industry. There is nothing else like it in the UK. “Moda also shares its own sense of community. It really feels like a fashion family get-together. Along with three very strong sectors, it is the largest gathering of footwear brands in the UK. I’m really looking forward to getting to know all the brands and helping them to achieve their goals over the next few seasons through closer collaborations, improving our hosted buyer programme and implementing a matchmaking service. The market is changing, and fashion trade shows need to be able to adapt, making the customer experience easier and more rewarding. There are some really exciting developments in the pipeline for both shows, so watch this space.” Check out our exclusive interview with Adam on page 52.
