Top Drawer S/S22 Postponed to February 2022

Following the significant increase of Omicron Covid-19 Variant cases within London and across the UK, show organisers have taken the decision to postpone Top Drawer Spring. The event will now take place from 20th to 22nd February 2022.

Show Director, Russell Rule comments: "We are committed to bringing you Top Drawer S/S22 in a safe environment that you can feel comfortable attending for your yearly buying needs. With this in mind we feel it's the right decision to postpone to a later date in the same buying season. We will always work in the best interests of our exhibitors, visitors, contractors and staff and we believe a safe and successful event can be run in late February 2022. New research from American Express Shop Small shows that social media has driven UK consumers to spend more with small businesses in the last 12 months.With social media being key for businesses and customers to stay connected and engaged during the pandemic, nearly three-quarters (72%) of UK adults who follow more small businesses on social media now than they did 12 months ago are spending more with them. In total, UK consumers have spent £3.7 billion with small businesses they follow on social media in the last year.... read more

BHETA advises on impending plastic tax legislation

The British Home Enhancement Trade Association (BHETA) held a webinar aimed at all UK housewares, DIY, garden and small electricals suppliers on the implications and preparations required ahead of the forthcoming Plastic Packaging Act (PPA), which comes into force in April 2022. The key speakers were Paul van Danzig and Alyce Morris from BHETA business service provider, Wastepack who outlined everything that supplier companies need to do to comply with the forthcoming legislation.
Under the new legislation, from April 2022 all plastic items used in the packaging of products must include a minimum of 30% recycled content, or face taxes of £200 per metric tonne of chargeable plastic packaging components.... read more

The Giftware Association has today announced the extension of its Gift of the Year competition. The awards will be extended for a massive 15 days until the 15th December, so there is plenty of time for companies to enter their products and gifts.
Although the GA does usually extend the competition as it's a busy time of year for entrants approaching the Christmas season, this year has seen other reasons for the extension. The GA has listened to a lot of companies who have been affected by supply chain issues caused by the perfect storm of Brexit and the pandemic and they want to give everyone a chance to enter within enough time, whether companies are waiting on actual products, samples, or photography to enter.
